Replacing the lining
1.
I measured the removed lining panels: 20”x30”. They were slightly wider than the velvet panels:
2.
Measured
two scraps of silk and cut 20” wide, pieced them together to make two panels 20 X 30, with a center horizontal
seam (slip stitched closed on one side) to allow access to back of decorated
velvet panel for future repairs:

3.
Sewed lining
panels together at sides, from top edge, leaving bottom slit open:

2.
To sew
lining into cover: Without turning
either lining or velvet right side out, I placed sewn lining panels on top of
sewn velvet panels, matching LEFT side seams. I sewed both sets together over that seam (all four pieces together):
3.
I pressed lining away from velvet.
Then, rotating the lining in same direction, I wrapped it around to
the back of the lowest velvet panel, and lined up side seams on the other side. Stitched seams together (all four pieces
together).
4.
Turned all
pieces right side out.:
